[@ 3 min] It’s a Band Geek Edition of ‘Sportzando!’ Say. No. More.
[@ 31 min] And then… I don’t know how we pulled it off, but we have a ‘Free Throw’ with tenor, author, stage director, clown, radio host, and television personality Rolando Villazón.
The Two Minute Drill
[@ 40 min] Plus, in the ‘Two Minute Drill’… Well, at least Martyn Brabbins didn’t punch anyone when things got ugly at English National Opera.

Hello Opera Box Score! This is Joseph from Florida and I’m a big fan of your podcast. Although I’m not a singer, I am a professional tuba player and instructor (and fellow Northwestern alumn). I very much appreciated the marching band episode. I thought Ashley did a wonderful overview of the different types of marching bands… I participated in both my high school band and 4 summers of drum corps with the Boston Crusaders (’03-’05) and Phantom Regiment (’07). Speaking of the Shostakovich Symphony No. 5 incorporated in marching shows, you’ll have to check out Phantom’s 1996 show entitled Defiant Heart: The Music of Dimitri Shostakovich (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bD4lM0F6x8A). It was great to find out that most of the hosts played a band instrument at some point. I always wished I had explored singing more after having only sung a semester in choir during university. My time in Chicago was a magical time when my love for opera truly started. I saw my first professional opera production at Lyric Opera of Chicago and saw Lulu with Marlis Peterson. Later that same season, I saw Tristan und Isolde with Deborah Voigt. Both were magical experiences! Thank you to all of the hosts for such a great podcast every week. Even though I’ve been listening to opera for years, I still kind of consider myself a newbie. I learn so much from OBS and it helps me pass the time on my long commutes! Thank you!
